Politische Bildungsarbeit in Hessen

The Hessian State Agency for Civic Education (HLZ) is an institution of the state of Hesse and directly assigned to the Prime Minister of Hesse. It is the only Hessian institution to carry out political education work on behalf of the public. A board of trustees consisting of nine members of the state parliament ensures a non-partisan stance.

The HLZ carries out political – non-party – educational work in the state of Hesse. In particular, it has the task of "promoting the development of liberal-democratic consciousness through political education. This is done through educational events and publications and by supporting public institutions and independent associations dedicated to civic education, provided that the state budget code allows it."
