For people with disabilities, there is an almost nationwide infrastructure of disabled toilets. Since 1986 there has been the so-called "Euro-Behinderten-WC-Schlüssel" of the Darmstadt association "Club Behinderter und ihre Freunde e. V." (CBF e. V.), which makes it possible to open disabled toilets without having to rely on outside help or staff.
Where disabled toilets can be found in Germany, Austria or Switzerland is shown by the disabled toilet guide "Der Locus", which is also distributed by CBF e.V.
When ordering, the following documents must be provided:
- a copy of the severely disabled person's ID card or
- a medical certificate in people with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis
Non-profit associations and self-help groups as well as disabled persons who are listed in their severely disabled person's ID card are entitled to work.
- either one of the marks
- exceptional walking disability (aG),
- Entitlement to take an accompanying person with you (B),
- Helpless (H),
- Blindness(Bl)
- or the mark significant walking disability (mark G)
have entered. People with disabilities without a mark, but with a GdB of at least 80, as well as people with a chronic illness, can also purchase the Euro key if they can present a medical certificate showing that they are dependent on the key.
Note: If you have one of these marks aG, B, H, or BL, you will receive the key regardless of the degree of disability (GdB).
The order is placed via an electronic ordering process or by post.
Associations or self-help groups must choose the electronic way of ordering.
Orders for more than three keys will only be processed if the buyer identifies himself as a non-profit association or self-help group.
