If adolescents or young adults need intensive and individual support to help them cope with life due to an acutely dangerous and highly problematic situation, they can apply for intensive socio-educational support.
Adolescents and young adults can take advantage of intensive socio-educational individual care. This form of educational assistance comes into question in the case of particularly serious problems and acute danger situations. This aid is therefore entirely focused on those affected. If possible, however, it also includes their social environment.
One-on-one care is intended to help those affected,
- to deal with their situation,
- to develop self-confidence and perspectives,
- to resolve conflicts independently, and
- to achieve an independent lifestyle
Clarify directly with the Youth Welfare Office which documents you need to submit.
Intensive socio-pedagogical individual care is an educational aid that can be implemented in both outpatient and inpatient form. Custodians are entitled to help (for education) in the upbringing of a child or adolescent if an upbringing in accordance with the best interests of the child or adolescent is not guaranteed and the help is suitable and necessary for his or her development.
The costs of the aid are borne by the Youth Welfare Office.
In the case of (partially) inpatient assistance, the custodians may have to contribute to the costs of the assistance in accordance with their financial circumstances. If the income is too low, a contribution to the costs in the amount of child benefit must be paid.
Contact the responsible youth welfare office and describe the problems with your child. Adolescents and young adults can also contact the Youth Welfare Office themselves. The Youth Welfare Office assesses the case and decides whether intensive socio-educational individual care is a suitable measure. It will help you apply and also advise you on other ways to help.
If the aid is approved, all parties involved work together to draw up an aid plan. It sets out the procedure, objectives and duration of the aid.
The Youth Welfare Office monitors the progress of the aid in regular discussions.
Educational assistance is usually provided by so-called independent youth welfare agencies. Parents can choose between different providers if they make comparable offers and thus do not incur higher costs.
