Have you come across websites while surfing the Internet that are not suitable for children and young people but are accessible? Then you can complain online on the jugendschutz.net website.
jugendschutz.net is a body set up by the highest state youth authorities to support the Commission for the Protection of Minors in the Media (KJM) in its tasks. jugendschutz.net checks content on the Internet and ensures that youth protection regulations are complied with.
You have found a website which, in your opinion, meets at least one of the following criteria:
- illegal
- harmful to minors
- harmful to the development of children and young people
You have to fill in and submit the online complaint form. jugendschutz.net will review your complaint. If the website in question violates youth protection regulations, the office informs the responsible provider and asks them to change the content accordingly.
If the provider does not comply with this request, jugendschutz.net will refer the case to the competent media supervisory authority, the Commission for the Protection of Minors in the Media of the German State Media Authorities (KJM). The KJM can take the following measures against the provider:
- Prohibition order
- Blocking order
- Initiation of administrative offense proceedings
- Notification of the criminal prosecution authorities
In Hesse, the Media Authority of Hesse finally enforces the decided measure.
Note: The procedure described only applies to websites operated by providers in Germany.
