Geoportal Hessen – Geodaten finden, präsentieren und beziehen

Due to its spatial properties, geoinformation (geodata) is indispensable for numerous planning and decisions for business, administration and citizens. Through their use, complex issues can be analyzed simply, quickly and transparently and the results can be presented in a clear form. In order to improve the availability and possible use of the geodata managed in distributed sources and different responsibilities and thus further develop their value creation potential, a number of technical and organizational measures are being taken as part of the development of a spatial data infrastructure Hessen (GDI-Hessen).

These measures include, in particular, the provision of the Geoportal Hessen, which serves as a central platform of the GDI-Hessen in the sense of a cross-sectional portal and, from the user's point of view, bundles the various information offers, services and subject-specific applications of the Hessian state administration on the subject of "geodata". For this purpose, the Geoportal Hessen also offers functions for searching, presenting and obtaining (downloading) geodata. In addition, the Geoportal provides an overview of the objectives, legal framework and tasks related to the creation of an Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community (INSPIRE).
