If you receive Citizen's Allowance and would like to improve your ability to take up and carry out activities on the labor market, you can take part in a work opportunity.
If you receive citizen's allowance, you can apply to the Jobcenter to take part in a work opportunity. The job opportunity is intended to enable social participation in working life and support your entry into the general labor market in the medium term. You will be supported by an instructor.
The activities to be carried out must be additional, non-competitive and in the public interest. A work opportunity can only be considered if your integration into the labor market cannot be achieved with other benefits.
Assignment to a work opportunity can last up to 24 months if there are appropriate reasons. The work opportunity can then be extended by a further 12 months.
In addition to your citizen's allowance, you will receive an additional allowance, for example for additional travel costs or work clothing.
You are insured against accidents through the provider of the measure.
Please note that you have no legal right to be assigned to a work opportunity. The Jobcenter will decide whether you can take part in a work opportunity.
- Receipt of citizen's allowance
- No allocation to work opportunities if one or more work opportunities totaling 36 months have already been completed in the last 5 years.
- Necessity to maintain or regain employability and no possibility of integration into work
In principle, you can apply for participation in a work opportunity at your local Jobcenter:
- You can arrange a consultation appointment with your contact person at the Jobcenter or indicate your interest online.
- We will then discuss with you whether you can take part in a work opportunity.
- Your contact person will explain the type, scope and duration of the work and tell you who you will be working for. They will also take into account your requirements.
- If you can be assigned to a specific work opportunity, your contact person will discuss the next steps with you.
- You will also be informed of the details of the work opportunity in writing.
- If your application is approved or rejected, you will receive a notification from the relevant Jobcenter
- You can lodge an appeal against the decision on your grant within one month of it being issued. Further information on how to lodge an appeal can be found in the notification of your application.
