Would you like to use frequencies for a radio station for aviation and air navigation radio on the ground? You can apply for these from the Federal Network Agency.

Aviation and air navigation radio frequencies are used for communication and navigation in aviation. In order to participate in aeronautical and aeronautical navigation radio, a frequency allocation is required for each radio station on the ground that you wish to operate. You apply for this from the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA).

In the application form, you select whether you want to submit a

  • new application or
  • an amendment application.

You submit an amendment application if you make changes to the radio equipment at your radio station or if your personal details have changed. The BNetzA assigns you frequencies for aeronautical and aeronavigation radio for a maximum of 10 years. After that, you must reapply for the allocation.

  • The frequencies are shown in the frequency plan.
  • The national and any necessary international frequency coordination for the radio station can be successfully completed.

Kosten

Fee for frequency assignment

  • A fee is charged for frequency assignment and, under certain circumstances, for refusal of assignment.
  • The amount of the fees is determined in accordance with the Special Fee Ordinance of the Federal Network Agency for Frequency Allocations.

Annual fee for frequency assignment

  • As the holder of a frequency assignment, you pay annual fees in addition to the frequency assignment fee.
  • The amount of these contributions is determined in accordance with the Frequency Protection Contribution Ordinance. The basis for determining the contribution rates is the actual expenses and costs eligible for contributions incurred in a calendar year. These can only be determined retrospectively. A contribution forecast is not possible.

You can apply for frequency allocation for mobile aeronautical and aeronautical navigation radio online, by e-mail or by post.

Apply for frequency allocation online:

  • Call up the online application on the federal portal.
  • You will need a user name and password to log in.
  • The online application will guide you step by step through the required information.
  • Submit the application online.
  • The Federal Network Agency will check your application and contact you with any queries or missing information.
  • Once your application has been successfully checked, the Federal Network Agency will provide you with the following information via your BundID
    • the certificate of allocation and
    • the fee notice for download.
  • On request, the Federal Network Agency will send you the documents by post.
  • You pay the assignment fee.

Apply for frequency allocation by e-mail or post:

  • Download the application form from the Federal Network Agency's website.
  • You can download the form
    • fill it out on screen and save it as a PDF file
    • or download it, print it out and then fill it in.
  • Send the form to the Federal Network Agency by e-mail or post.
  • The Federal Network Agency will check your application and contact you with any queries or missing information.
  • The Federal Network Agency will send you by post
    • the certificate of allocation and
    • the notification of fees.
  • You pay the allocation fee.
