You must immediately report changes to a terminal device already certified for BOS digital radio to the Federal Agency for the Digital Radio of Authorities and Organizations with Security Tasks (BDBOS).
In digital radio for public safety authorities and organizations (BOS), terminals from various manufacturers are used. To ensure that these terminals are compatible with all network components and with each other, you may only use terminals certified by the Federal Agency for the Digital Radio of Authorities and Organizations with Security Tasks (BDBOS).
The BDBOS has defined performance characteristics in the interoperability guidelines (IOP guidelines) that all terminals must fulfill. Compliance with these defined performance features is confirmed by a corresponding certificate.
If you as the manufacturer make changes to an already certified terminal device or distribute these devices, you must report this to the BDBOS immediately. This also applies if the changes do not affect the legal requirements.
So-called insignificant changes include, among other things, changes that you only make to the housing of the terminal device, but not to the software or hardware. In the case of control center components, replacing hardware components can also be a minor change.
Based on your notification, the BDBOS will check whether an insignificant change has actually been made.
- This is deemed to be the case if the BDBOS does not inform you of a different decision within 3 months.
If, on the other hand, the BDBOS considers the change to be significant, you will receive a written notification within 3 months. You must then generally apply for a change certification.
- You must have access to the protected area of the BDBOS web portal.
- If your company is based outside the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA):
- You must designate an authorized recipient with an address within the EU or EEA.
You can report minor changes to end devices online or by post.
Report minor changes to end devices online:
- Call up the online form on the federal portal verwaltung.bund.de. This will guide you step by step through the necessary information, which you can enter electronically.
- Note: You need an ELSTER organization account to use the online form.
- The BDBOS will check your details.
- If you do not receive any notification from the BDBOS within a period of 3 months, the change is deemed to be immaterial.
- You will receive written notification from the BDBOS if there is a need for action on your part and you need to submit an application for change certification, for example.
- You pay the fees.
Report insignificant changes to terminal equipment by post or e-mail:
- Download the "Change certification of terminal equipment" form from the BDBOS website.
- Complete and sign the form and send it to the BDBOS certification office.
- The BDBOS will check your details.
- If you do not receive a message from the BDBOS within a period of 3 months, the change is deemed to be insignificant.
- You will receive written notification from the BDBOS if there is a need for action on your part and you need to submit an application for change certification, for example.
- You pay the fees.
