If you have developed a model project in civic education, you can receive a grant for its implementation under certain conditions.

You must apply to the Federal Agency for Civic Education (BpB) for this grant for your model project.
Applications can be submitted by:

• Educational institutions,
• associations and
• other actors with a project idea in political education.

In the application for a grant, you must provide information on the following points, among others:

• Description and goals of your project
• planned financing and the share of your own funds
• planned start and duration of your project

You can submit your application on your own initiative and throughout the year, or you can apply specifically for a thematic call for proposals from the Federal Agency for Civic Education with your model project.

Please note that you must submit your application before the project begins. Model projects that are already underway will not receive funding.

After completion of your model project, you are required to submit a factual report and evidence of how the funding was used.

What is a model project?
Model projects are projects that are limited in time

• whose results are transferable to other educational institutions or funding areas
• and are intended to provide findings with regard to the development, testing, review, further development and transfer of methods and concepts.
• The funding is only valid for the period specified in the funding decision. Follow-up funding is not possible

You must submit your application for funding for your model project online or in writing to the BpB.

You can also submit the application as the authorized representative of your project sponsor. You will need an appropriate power of attorney for this. This must be signed by all authorized board members. If you have any questions regarding the project description and the financial plan, please contact the BpB's Funding Department.

When applying, you must submit:

• detailed project description and planning
• financial plan

If you are applying for the grant as an association or organization (for example, as an educational institution):

• current annual financial statements or annual report for the previous year
• Proof of legal form and representation (e.g. excerpt from the register of associations, excerpt from the commercial register, articles of association, rules of procedure)

A grant for model project can apply:

• Educational institutions,
• associations and
• other actors with a project idea in political education.

Further prerequisite:

• At the time of application, the project measure may not yet have been started.

You can submit your application for a grant for your model project online or in writing to the Federal Agency for Civic Education (BpB).

Online procedure

• Go to the Federal Portal website and complete the application form electronically there.
  • Note: For the online function you need your identity card with PIN.
• Upload the required evidence (PDF, JPG and PNG possible, also as scan or photo).
• Submit the application.
• The BpB will decide on your application and send you a notification of funding or rejection.

In writing by mail

• Open the application form on the BpB website.
  • You can either fill out the form digitally on your PC or download it and then fill it out.
• Sign the printed form.
• Attach copies of the required supporting documents to your application form.
• Send the application to the BpB by mail.
• The BpB will make a decision on your application and mail you a notice of award or denial.

If your application is submitted in response to a specific call, there are submission deadlines, which you can find in the respective call.

Outside of these calls, there are no deadlines; you can submit your application on your own initiative and throughout the year.
