§ 18 German Restaurant Act (GastG)
For restaurants and events, there is a closing time during which operations must cease. You can apply for an extension of the closing time.
Some countries have a closing time for restaurants and events. Operations must cease during this time. You can apply for an extension of the closing time. The legal requirements vary from country to country.
If you want to apply for an extension of the blocking period, then
- submit an application for an extension of the blocking period online or in writing to the competent authority as early as possible.
- Explain in detail why you see a "public need" to extend the closing time. This is often justified by the event that you want to continue.
- You will receive a permit or a decision rejecting the application.
A deadline is not specified by law. However, it is advisable to apply for a reduction in the blocking period at an early stage.

- In some countries, there are regulations on closing times for restaurants and for public events such as public festivals and music performances.
- This closing time can be extended, shortened or lifted on application.
