Would you like to plant a new forest on your property where there were previously no trees?

According to the provisions of the State Forest Act, you may only plant new woodland on previously woodland-free areas with permission or allow it to develop by itself through natural succession

Permission can be granted for a limited period and subject to conditions.

Permission is granted if

• if there is no overriding public interest to the contrary (initial afforestation)

Approval for initial afforestation is not required if afforestation has already been legally established for an area on the basis of other regulations.

The fee range is EUR 100.00 to EUR 200.00, plus any fees and expenses for the involvement of other authorities, if requested by them.

The forestry office will decide on your application after it has weighed up the rights, obligations and economic interests as well as the interests of the general public against each other and among themselves and consulted the relevant authorities. This procedure ensures that all arguments in favor of or against a. initial afforestation are adequately taken into account and that the forestry office can use this as a basis for the sound management of forest development.

If the initial afforestation has been approved, you must carry out this project within a reasonable period of time. After this period, the approval expires.
