You must report the keeping of the following animals to the competent authority.

• cattle
• Pigs (also minipigs)
• sheep
• goats
• Equidae (e.g. horses, donkeys, mules, hinnies, zebras, zebrids)
• chickens
• ducks
• geese
• pheasants
• Guinea fowl
• Partridges
• Pigeons
• Turkeys
• Quails
• ratites (e.g. emu, ostrich, nandu)
• Game (e.g. fallow deer, red deer, mouflon, roe deer)
• Camelids (e.g. camel, dromedary, alpaca, llama, vicuña, guanaco)
• Other cloven-hoofed animals
• Fish (aquaculture farms and fishing ponds with e.g. trout, carp, pike, tench, goldfish, eels, lampreys, decapod crustaceans, molluscs (this list is not exhaustive))
• Bees and bumblebees

After successful notification, your animal husbandry (business) will receive a twelve-digit registration number.

For the animal species cattle, pigs, sheep, goats and horses, which are managed in the "Animal Origin and Information System" (HI-Tier for short), the holding will automatically receive an access PIN for the system after registration.

Your advertisement must contain the following information:

• Name
• address
• Number of animals expected to be kept on an annual average (for bees and bumblebees: number of colonies)
• Type of use of the animals
• Location (for flocks of migratory sheep, the location of the farm is deemed to be the location)
• for pigs: Type of husbandry (indoor, outdoor, free-range)

There are no fees.

The notification must be made before the animal is kept.

When keeping

• cattle,
• pigs,
• sheep,
• goats,
• horses and
• bee colonies

are subject to compulsory membership of the Rhineland-Palatinate Animal Disease Insurance Fund. (Further information can be found at www.tsk-rlp.de or by calling 0671/793-1212).

Contact the responsible district administration (veterinary office), which is also responsible for the independent towns in its area.
