If you would like to run a daycare center, you must obtain a permit from the responsible state youth welfare office.

Facilities in which children are looked after all day or for part of the day require a permit from the relevant state youth welfare office in order to operate. The license must be applied for by the provider of the facility.

If you would like to operate a daycare center as an independent provider, you must meet certain requirements in order to be granted the relevant permit.

You cannot operate a daycare center without an operating permit. If you do not submit the application on time, you will not be able to open your daycare facility until a later date.

• As the responsible body, you have the necessary reliability to operate the facility.
• They ensure that the welfare of the children in the facility is guaranteed and ensure minimum standards in the following areas:
  • spatial
  • professional
  • economic
  • personnel
• They support the social and linguistic integration of the children and a healthy living environment in the facility.
• You support preventive health care and medical care for the children.
• They have developed a concept for protection against violence.
• They offer suitable procedures for self-representation and participation as well as the opportunity to complain about personal matters.
• You have a concept for quality development and assurance as well as for proper bookkeeping and record keeping.
• You can prove the suitability of your staff with training certificates and certificates of good conduct.

There are no costs.

The staffing hours you have specified in the application must represent the minimum staffing level. This means that the specified minimum staffing level must never be exceeded during the opening hours of the facility.

• Operation of a child daycare facility in which children are cared for all or part of the day must be applied for by the provider of the facility
• Permission granted by the state youth welfare office
• Independent providers wishing to operate a daycare center must meet certain requirements in order to obtain a permit
• It is not possible to start operating the daycare center without an operating permit
• If the application is not submitted on time, the opening of the daycare center will be delayed
